VALESKA GRIFFITHS
writER × editOR × CREATIVE
I'm a writer, editor, and digital marketer who LOVES helping female and nonbinary biz owners vibe with their dream customers through compelling, brand-aligned copy and strategy (I also love long walks and carbs!). I've been #blessed to have worked with some brilliant marketers and truly killer, innovative brands!
My clients often accuse me of being able to read their minds. As much as I'd love to claim that power, the truth is that I'm just passionate about what I do—and I'm damn good at it. My sweet spot is working with heart-led biz coaches, wellness professionals, and nonprofit consultants.
In addition to copywriting, I also write about film. I love to look at media through an intersectional lens and tease out sociopolitical, psychological, and historical themes.
Is your website or sales copy in need of a major glow-up? Do you crave marketing emails that will keep your mailing list salivating for your next blast? Looking for show notes that’ll turn your podcast into your category’s latest must-listen? Do you dream about building an audience for your blog—without having to write another post yourself, ever, ever again?
(All of those questions were rhetorical, because of course you are!)
Through my boutique copywriting agency, Copy Magic Creative, I work with a variety of brands and entrepreneurs who want some help grabbing their share of the spotlight…or a little more than their share, I don’t judge!
In addition to my film criticism work, I’ve edited and contributed essays to multiple academic and semi-academic publications exploring genre film, including Scared Sacred: Idolatry, Religion and Worship in the Horror Film (House of Leaves Publishing, 2020) and Filtered Reality: The Progenitors and Evolution of Found Footage Horror (House of Leaves Publishing, 2023). I am the executive editor and creative director of Grim, an inclusive film journal that showcases the voices of writers and creators identifying as women, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, or members of the disability community. If you’re interested in commissioning an essay or book chapter, I invite you to reach out for a virtual coffee date.
I’m available to deliver virtual presentations for film festivals and genre-focused conferences. My lecture, Bad Bitches: Sex & Power From the Stake to the Sanitarium (created for Salem Horror Fest 2020 and since presented at FRIGHTGOWN 2021), was voted ‘Best Lecture’ by Salem Horror Fest attendees and received the highest number of views in its category. I also co-created DIY or Die, a self-publishing workshop that included a brief history of zines and a step-by-step overview of the publishing process, as well as a hands-on component that lets attendees walk away with their own 4-page creation.
